CALL FOR ENTRIES: STUDENT DESIGN COMPETITION

Are you ready to put your creativity to the test? We are inviting students to participate in an exciting Puzzle Design Competition that merges art, technology, and Digital Asset Management (DAM). Your challenge?

Design a 340-piece puzzle along with its packaging that visually represents the world of DAM!

Submission Deadline: Friday May 9th, 2025


Competition Details

  • Template: Use the attached template for your puzzle dimensions and box.

  • Eligibility: Open to all GCM students with an interest in graphic design, digital media, and branding.

  • Judging Criteria: Creativity, relevance to the DAM theme, originality, and usability of the design as a puzzle.

Prizes: Two winners will be selected and will get an Amazon gift card each worth CAD 250 and a copy of their puzzle. The winning design will be produced in a limited edition at GCM and distributed as a virtual door prize to attendees at the 5th Annual Canada DAM Symposium hosted by the Lab of Excellence in DAM (LED), with the designer receiving recognition across lab publications and digital platforms.


Theme & Design Elements

Your design should creatively incorporate elements that symbolize Digital Asset Management, including but not limited to:

  • Icons & Symbols: Represent various digital media file types such as audio, video, images, documents, and 3D assets.

  • Social Media & Web Elements: Include familiar icons that signify the sharing and distribution of digital assets.

  • AI & Automation: Visual representations of AI-powered tools in DAM, such as auto-tagging and facial recognition.

  • DAM Keywords & Concepts: Illustrate essential DAM-related terms like search, metadata, taxonomy, copyright, version control, and access rights through engaging visual metaphors.

Branding Requirements: Include the Lab of Excellence in Digital Asset Management (LED) logo and our Sponsor’s Logo: Activo within your puzzle design and/or packaging. (provided materials)

All puzzles submitted to this competition are intended solely for the promotion of the Lab of Excellence in Digital Asset Management (LED) at Toronto Metropolitan University, and are for educational and promotional purposes only. By entering this competition, you agree that your design may be used in promotional materials and public displays exclusively by Toronto Metropolitan University and the LED Lab. The puzzle and any associated intellectual property are not for resale, commercial distribution, or any other form of commercial exploitation without the express, prior written consent of Toronto Metropolitan University and the Lab of Excellence in Digital Asset Management. Unauthorized use, reproduction, or distribution is strictly prohibited.


Submission Format

  • Submission Format: A Zip folder that contains Press-ready PDFs and packaged AI files.

  • Preparing the PDFs: Turn off visibility for all of the layers EXCEPT the Artwork and Redge marks layer

    • Upload as high-resolution digital file PDF.

    • These apply for both the puzzle and the packaging.
